Kusile Youth Dance Theatre
Kusile Youth Dance Theatre is a non-profit organisation conceived in July 2014 as a rural youth programme by its former Chairperson Given Mba in partnership with Makwedini Film Productions. At the heart of Kusile is the desire to celebrate the rich culture and heritage of the Eastern Cape through film and stage theatre productions as well as cultural villages.
In just over a year since inception, it reached its first milestone with the shooting of its stage theatre piece, Innocent Africa: The Battle of the Sexes. The production features a 135-member cast comprising learners from Ilitha, Ndevana, Berlin, Tshabo and Dongwe, who will be exposed to the world with the final DVD destined for Germany, France, Italy and Spain.
Kusile also plans to establish cultural villages that will house arts and craft production programmes and hospitality industries as a means to benefit rural economies.
Artist extraordinaire, Aubrey Silinyana, with over 15 years’ experience in publishing, videography and performing arts, is at the helm of Kusile as its programme manager. He is hard at work conceptualising and directing productions, as well as securing funding for the various phases of the programme.

Two years after producing low budget film called Ben 10, Sandi Sali established Soundcheck Studios in 2015, basing its operations in Cathcart. Within its first year of formal business trading, the company also produced two short films, Ibanjwa and Umntwan’omntu.
